What is a surcharge?

What is a surcharge?

We want to reward designers who are there for us when needed. Therefore we apply a surcharge on projects that are pending a longer period of time.
Simply explained, a surcharge is an extra money you can earn by taking a project that nobody applied to for a longer period. You can always see the % value of a surcharge on the project view on the platform.

Example of a surcharge:

Project hour scope: 10
Surcharge: 20%
Result: If the project you are applying for is scoped for 10 hours of work and there is a surcharge of 20% you will get paid 12 hours (10*1.20) even though you worked only 10.

How big can a surcharge get?

Based on how long a project is pending the surcharge can be either 20%, 40%, or 60%. The surcharge is progressive. The longer the project is pending, the higher surcharge applies (up to 60%).

When is the best chance for finding projects with a surcharge?

Most projects are surcharged between 20:00 CET and 06:00 CET. This may vary from day to day but this is the most common time for a surcharge to occur. Therefore if you would like to have a chance for surcharged projects, that is the time you should be available.

Surcharge comes now also with a rating boost! So you earn more and you improve your rating as well!!

What is a rating boost?

Rating boost is a type of reward that improves your rating for taking on specific types of projects. When you take on a project that contains a rating boost, you will get extra rating points to the admin´s actual rating. Learn more about projects with a rating boost in this article.

What rating boost do I get with the surcharge?

We have implemented new addition to the surcharge - rating boost. Therefore now you get extra money + better rating by taking on projects with surcharge.
Example:
Surcharge 20% -> means 0.2 rating boost (If you get a rating 10 - your rating with boost will be 10.2, if you get a rating 8 - your rating with boost will be 8.2)
Surcharge 40% -> means 0.4 rating boost (If you get a rating 10 - your rating with boost will be 10.4, if you get a rating 8 - your rating with boost will be 8.4)
Surcharge 60% -> means 0.6 rating boost (If you get a rating 10 - your rating with boost will be 10.6, if you get a rating 8 - your rating with boost will be 8.6)
