Test projects
Introduction
In this article we will explain the paid test projects. You can only start this step once you have passed the application test, filled your profile details, watched the onboarding video, and completed the onboarding call.
What is are the test projects?
The test projects are there so we can see your design skills, but they are also there so you can experience the KnowMore Platform process and see what it is like to work with us. You will be able to explore the Knowmore Platform interface in its entirety. You will find out what projects are generally like, you will have admins online and available to you and you will learn about our expectations. You shall also have access to the resources within the Platform with the exception of the SlideHub Macro and the SlideHub Platform PowerPoint addin - link. These tools only become available to designers once they have passed the final interview.
The first test project simulates what a real live project is like. Here you will be given all material needed to complete the task, you can communicate with the admins and they will give you feedback on your project so you can complete it to the client's satisfaction.
The second test project is a larger challenge. Here you will not get any feedback on your file from the admins, but they will answer your queries should you have any. This test looks at how you work independently.
When can I start test projects?
You can only initiate a test project on weekdays between 07:00 and 23:00 CET. To be able to initiate the second test project you first need to complete and pass the first test project.
Project deadline
Each test project has a deadline of 8 hours from the moment you start it. Make sure that you set aside enough time to be able to fully focus on it. If you need to take a longer break or you need a longer time to complete the test project inform the admin. Since this is a test project we are not very strict about the deadline as long as you keep us informed and keep working on your task. We understand that since this is your first time working on the platform it might take you additional time to review all the materials and get used to the platform system.
Please note: Treatment of the deadline in the live project is not flexible as in the test projects. Missing a deadline in a real live task would be a serious issue since it could jeopardize the success of the project and cause delay in delivering the project to our client.
Project files and other informative materials
For a smooth start we highly recommend starting with training documents inside the task:
"Check before you initiate the test" zip file. This is a collection of PDF materials you should read very carefully before starting the task as they contain answers to the majority of basic questions you might have.
Afterward, continue with all the project-connected standard materials you need to review and follow to successfully complete the task:
Project description. Read the project description very carefully as this is the main description of what you should do in your test project.
Client's input file
Client´s guideline file
Client's inspiration file
Guidelines video training. You can find the link to the guideline video in the project description.
Other files, if the task contains more materials than mentioned above
Expectations
In the test projects we observe not only your design skills but your professional behaviour, comprehension and communication skills as well.
We expect you to design a PowerPoint deck following a given guideline perfectly, show us your creativity within the constrictions of the client branding, prove your understanding of the content and communicate efficiently with the admin when you face uncertainties.
No go
Design without studying the guidelines and inspiration files
Expect the admin to provide you with creative solutions
Neglect reading the additional training documents in the test projects
Do not ask questions to the admins
Expect to get everything right the first time
Rush through the project to be done with it quickly
How to do well
Pay attention to the smallest details in the guidelines and inspiration files
Try to figure things out independently first, only then ask the admin
When facing any sort of issue contact the admin with a collected list of questions
Take feedback and critique as a challenge to become better, not as a setdown
Be inspired by other solutions, but do not blindly copy them

How to handle Visual enhancement projects as a starting designer?
I am not able to find or download icons or pictures from the platform. What should I do?
Next step
Only after you have completed and passed both test projects you will be able to continue in the on-boarding process and reach the next step, which is the final interview.
